Google Increases Rewards for Tips on Security Bugs

Google has upped its payouts to tipsters who help keep the search engine giant’s services running smoothly.

The company announced updated rules and significant reward increases for its vulnerability reward programs on its Online Security Blog Thursday.

The payout for cross-site scripting bugs on Google Accounts has jumped from $3,133.70 to $7,500 while the reward for reporting XSS bugs in other “sensitive” areas such as Gmail and Google Wallet has skyrocketed to $5,000 from $1,337. The top payment for major authentication bypasses and information leaks surged to $7,500 from $5,000.
